After beginning our backyard chicken venture in March of this year (and then starting all over again in May) one of our chickens has finally begun to lay eggs!!! Who would have ever thought that would be something to get excited over? Since Saturday, she’s given us 5 eggs and if you calculate how much we’ve spent so far (about $300) - that’s a whopping $60 per egg! We actually need the chickens to produce 1200 eggs before they cost less than grocery store eggs…that just might take a while Oh, well - it’s still fun!!!
