A Trip to the Grocery Store

Normally a trip to the grocery store doesn’t merit a blog post! But, this was my first trip to the grocery store with Renee all by myself (no Jeff)!! “So, what?” you say. Well, with a baby as fussy as mine, I have been avoiding going out of the house as much as possible. Today though, after a few long naps and several feedings, she was actually in a good mood. So, I tried putting her in her car seat - she didn’t cry. Let’s take this a step further, I thought…and I walked around the house with her in her car seat. Still, no crying. That was all I needed. I changed her diaper, put on the Moby wrap, put on my shoes, locked up our mischievous dog Kirby, grabbed my keys and my purse and we were out of the house!!! I knew the magic of “Happy Renee” would wear off soon, and I had to hurry if I wanted to make this trip successful.

She didn’t cry once on the way to the store! We got there and I put her in the Moby wrap and I was able to do my shopping just fine. I think she was entranced by all the colors and sounds a grocery store has to offer (all new to her), so she just quietly looked around the whole time.

The trip didn’t go completely without a hitch though. After putting the groceries in the trunk, I took her out of the wrap and, while trying to put her in her car seat, accidentally bumped her head. Only lightly, but that was all it took to ruin our almost perfect outing. And the tears didn’t stop until we got home and I nursed her (luckily home is only a few minutes away!).

All in all though, I’d say it was a success!!!

Oh, and I meant to post pictures of my birthday presents from Jeff last week, but I never got around to it. So here they are:

He came home with these beautiful flowers for me (which are still looking great 1 week later!).

And he gave me this ceramic bowl that keeps your ball of yarn from rolling away while you knit. Beautiful and practical - I LOVE IT!!!
